Raising moths is great fun. Waiting for eggs to hatch, watching the caterpillars grow, rushing about like a lunatic trying to collect foodplant when they get huge and hungry, carefully collecting pupae, then the wonderful emergence of beautiful moths. Nothing beats it.

Some of the Equipment I use:

• Aquarium tubing (for transport of eggs)
  

• Small plastic boxes for eggs to hatch in
  

• Clear plastic takeaway food containers for young caterpillars
  

• Small Aquarium for larger caterpillars
  

• Small net cage for emerging moths or spinning silkworms
  

• Propagator filled with dry compost for hawkmoth caterpillars to dig into and pupate
  

• Large net emerging cage
  

• Paintbrush
  

• Tweezers
  

• Scissors
  

• Kitchen and Toilet Paper
  

• Disinfectant Spray
  

• Camera
  

• Gloves
  

• Map of Foodplant sites (!)
  

Emerging Cage with assorted pupae. Some pinned to the top, some not. These are regularly sprayed with (cooled) boiled water to maintain humidity.
